What is Minimalism?
Before we get into a list of the best blogs about minimalism, let’s define minimalism.
Minimalism is a philosophy and lifestyle movement that emphasizes simplicity and the removal of excess. It focuses on living with only the necessities and getting rid of excess possessions and distractions in order to focus on what is most important. The lifestyle is based on the idea that having fewer possessions and living with less clutter will lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Most minimalists also prioritize experiences and relationships over material possessions, and focus on finding meaning and fulfillment in their lives by pursuing their passions and spending time with loved ones.
The goal of minimalism is not to live with as little as possible, but rather to live with only the things that bring value and joy to one’s life, and to let go of anything that does not serve that purpose.
10 Best Minimalist Blogs to Follow in 2024
This list wasn’t just thrown together. I didn’t want to simply list all of the minimalist blogs I found on the internet. Instead I wanted to carefully curate a collection of blogs about minimalism that I personally follow and read consistently.
These blogs provided me with a sense of direction at the start of my minimalist journey and have inspired me ever since.
Every blog featured on this list is truly a gem. From the topics covered to the writing style.
Let’s get into them.
1. Becoming Minimalist
Joshua Becker is the minimalist father you never had.
He is a dad who discovered minimalism after he spent hours clearing out his garage one day.
While he was decluttering, he felt overwhelmed by all of the stuff he had accumulated over the years. He realized that he didn’t need most of the things that he was holding onto. These things weren’t adding value to his life, instead, they were leaving him frustrated and robbing him of time and money.
Not only had he wasted his hard earned money purchasing these things that he wasn’t using, but he was now wasting his valuable time rummaging through everything.
This experience shed light on his collecting habits. From then on, he realized he needed to make a change. From this realization, Becoming Minimalist was born.
Joshua’s posts are insightful, practical and honest. He also publishes weekly posts titled ‘Weekend Reads’ where he shares blog posts that inspire him. I was actually featured in this one!
My favorite blog post: Don’t Just Declutter, De-own
2. The Fun Sized Life
I love when bloggers show their personality through their writing. If you appreciate the same, you’ll love The Fun Sized Life.
Renee Benes will serve up your minimalism inspiration with a side of humor and sass. Reading her posts truly feels like getting advice from a friend.
She’s an ex-shopaholic turned minimalist who will surely put a smile on your face and inspire you to live with less.

4. Zen Habits
Leo Babauta has a loyal following of over 2,000,000+ readers and was featured in the Top 25 blogs by Time Magazine, twice! But if that’s not enough to convince you to read his blog, here’s another reason.
I have read many minimalist blogs over the years. For every great blog, there are a few not so great blogs.
There are many bloggers out there who are obviously writing to feed the Google algorithm. They aren’t necessarily writing for people but are instead writing articles they know will rank well in Google. These articles are typically written in a list format with very few personal anecdotes.
Leo Babauta clearly writes for people. His posts are written like a story. And each one has a message to takeaway at the end. His posts will entertain you and inspire you to live more intentionally.

5. Rich in What Matters
Julia Ubbenga began her minimalist journey in 2018 when she asked herself this question: am I rich in what matters?
What she realized was that no, she was not.
Julia wasn’t appreciating the small, simple things in life because she was living her life on autopilot.
She decided to slow down and start focusing on the simple, beautiful gifts all around her. Rich in What Matters is a blog dedicated to documenting her journey towards living a more mindful and minimal life.

6. Marc and Angel Hack Life
What happens when you get rid of all the excess? When you finally achieve your version of minimalism?
Well, you end up with a lot more time to focus on yourself and your relationships. And many minimalist blogs don’t focus on that aspect of minimalism.
After a lifetime of finding your happiness through material possessions and societal expectations, finding happiness from the simple things in life might not be so simple.
Marc and Angel Hack Life features countless personal development articles that help their readers thrive and find happiness in the simple things in life. They celebrate mindfulness and the power that plays in happiness.

10. Barefoot Minimalists
This list wouldn’t be complete without a little shameless self promo now would it?
Barefoot Minimalists is the blog that you’re currently reading, and I truly believe continuing to do so will add value to your life.
My minimalist journey began when I decided to pack up all of my things and move across the country from Texas to Washington state. And man, was I in for a treat.
When packing up all of my things I was shocked by how much stuff I owned. I was pulling things out of drawers that I didn’t even know I had.
That’s when I realized that something had to change. I could either spend a ton of money getting all of my stuff shipped across the country or I could get rid of most of it. I chose the latter.
I started blogging to keep myself inspired throughout my minimalist journey. I hope my posts inspire you too.
